  • Opportunity at a Glance

    The Manager of Communications is responsible for both internal colleague communications and some external communications on St. Kitts as it relates to identifying and gathering institutional and community information updates and novel/creative stories to support the admissions and marketing teams. The successful candidate will develop and execute communication strategies that support business growth objectives and enhance brand reputation, in addition to having the agility to rapidly respond to dynamic and/or urgent situations. This critical role will report into the Dean of RUSVM and have dotted lines to the RUSVM’s Director of Marketing and Adtalem VP of Global Communications.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the Dean in colleague, student and alumni communications.
    • Support institutional change through effective and creative communications.
    • Create internal student and colleague communications: newsletters, email, video and magazine content.
    • Liaise with local/regional media outlets which include activities around open days, press briefings, radio programs and other general media outreach.
    • Ensure consistent brand message across all communications.
    • Identify, interview and photograph/film students, faculty and alumni to be profiled for promotional purposes.
    • Source novel stories and develop creative strategies to enhance communications internally and contribute to brand enhancement
    • Tailor communications for a variety of media platforms.
    • Collaborate with RUSVM Public Relations and Global Communications on internal/external initiatives and campaigns. Coordinate on-island media and events in collaboration with the communications team and Caribbean civic affairs team.
    • Support Director of Marketing in brand and lead generation campaigns via traditional, digital and social vehicles. Craft original content for marketing channels including social media platforms.
    • Provide consulting and recommendations on communications initiatives with an eye towards continuous improvement.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field; MS preferred.
    • 5-10 years of experience in related positions.
    • Exceptional writer and skilled facilitator; Skilled in MS Office and communication suites.
    • Strong collaboration and relationship skills; manages well up, down and across an organization.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and maintain journalistic quality.
    • Responsive, flexible and deadline-oriented including excellent project management skills.
    • Background in creating and implementing communications plans in support of brand initiatives.
    • Experience conducting probing interviews in context of crafting communications for varied audiences.
    • Strong technical (digital, social) media knowledge and able to target audiences via multiple channels.
    • Experience working with third party agencies preferred.
