    Primary responsibilities involve providing clerical and technical support for the anesthesia veterinary technicians as part of Clinical Sciences at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. The position will provide clerical and clinical assistance to the Anesthesia Team at large, under the direct supervision of the Lead Anesthesia Technician, and will be participating in the instruction and support of DVM students. The incumbent works closely with all faculty, staff and students to achieve the goals of the University’s program and values. Prior experience working with livestock or pets is preferred.

    • Scanning documents
    • Document printing and collating
    • Linking scanned documents to electronic medical record
    • Preparing Grade sheets
    • Cleaning cages, laboratory rooms and surroundings
    • Stocking laboratory rooms
    • Maintaining orderliness of the anesthesia rooms
    • Acquiring and storing supplies from Purchasing
    • Aid with laboratory setup

    As the incumbent excels in the position additional duties MAY include:

    • Animal restraint
    • Catheter placement
    • Blood collection
    • IV, IM and SQ injections
    • Full TPR and Physical Exams
    • Assisting with lab preparation for Surgery Lab I and II
    • Assist with laboratory procedures

    Any other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. 

     

    • Minimum 4 CXC Subject passes (including English)
    • Science subject(s) preferred
    • Good communication skills
    • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office
    • Ability to work independently
    • Able to prioritize and work under pressure
    • Able to develop creative solutions to unforseen challenges
