    Position Overview

    The Accounting Clerk will provide clerical and Accounts Payable support to the Accounting Department. Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for reviewing and performing cashiering functions, performing various receptionist and general office duties, data entry for accounts payable, and performing various accounting functions to include the management of check requests, disbursements, and other related duties as assigned. A successful candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to interact with varying levels of the organization with exceptional professionalism.

     

    The Accounting Clerk will report the Accounting Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that excellent customer service is provided to students, colleagues and other internal/external customers
    • Review all invoices and payment requests for accuracy, validity, and reasonableness. Ensure all invoices have the required approvals and information.
    • Record cash receipts in accounting database, prepare cash deposits and issue receipts as required.
    • Disburse and maintain petty cash, while managing the fluidity of floats
    • Prepare monthly billings and statements
    • Collect, sort and distribute incoming mail
    • File and maintain accounting physical records
    • Order and maintain office supplies
    • Actively seek and implement ways to improve, streamline and automate the current cashier service and accounting processes
    • Provide accounting and clerical assistance to the Accounting department
    • Deputize for the Accounts Payable Specialist as needed
    • Other duties as assigned by the Accounting/Finance Management team

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree or A levels in Accounting or business related field
    • Minimum of two years’ work experience in Accounting or comparable experience

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office product (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
    • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
    • Experience with Sage Accounting SoftwareResults oriented with strong attention to detailProvides a service-oriented approach to clients, both internal and external 
    • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as needed.
    • Works and collaborates well within a team environment
    • Ability to prioritize, multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment
