    The candidate will apply their experience of scientific, laboratory settings to support the growing diagnostic and research activities in the Laboratories. This technical position is critical to the RUSVM strategic plan priorities.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support the ongoing veterinary research programs under the immediate supervision of the Senior Scientist using state-of-the-art biochemical, molecular, serological and tissue culture techniques.
    • Possess the ability to multi-task and manage several projects in parallel, with particular attention to detail.
    • Possess and promote the ability to work in a team environment
    • • Assist in the training of other laboratory personnel, graduate and veterinary students in good laboratory practice and research techniques
    • Help design and implement SOPs for research trials and related activities
    • Perform additional tasks assigned by the management team. 

    Specific duties:

    • Providing expert assistance for the Veterinary Physiology research in the laboratory, including teaching students how to work with rodent models of various processes.
    • Other duties include assisting with other technical aspects of active research projects (e.g. serological assays, nucleic acid extractions, realtime PCR and bacterial cultures), training of students in research techniques and assisting with general lab maintenance in collaboration with other laboratory personnel. 
    • Depending on qualifications and research experience the successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to be a co-PI on future research projects. Such level of engagement will follow NIH guidelines for co-authorship.

    Other duties as assigned.  


    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences with 5 years of experience in relevant biological research field is required. A Master’s degree with 3 years of research experience or a PhD with at least 1 year of biological research experience is preferred. 
    • Should have documented experience in a research environment with a demonstrated ability to implement and perform molecular and cellular assays and techniques.
    • Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills. 
    • Proven ability to interact well as a constructive member of research teams. 
    • High-level computer skills with knowledge of programs designed for nucleic acid sequence analysis is desirable.
    • Flexible working hours to meet the demands of research projects which may occasionally involve working after hours, weekends, and on public holidays.
