    The Clinical co-ordinator reporting to to the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs is responsible for counseling pre-clinical students for academic success and provide advice on the most suitable clinical affiliates available according to student interest and professional goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and populating the clinical affiliate area of the RUSVM portal as well as maintaining constant contact with the administrative staff of the different affiliates in order to monitor progress of the students during their clinical year.


    Assist with Clinical year students (40%)

    •  Work closely with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and the Office of the Registrar to place, monitor and support students during their clinical training at AVMA accredited colleges of veterinary medicine.
    • Assist students with academic difficulties and those needing Leave of absence (LOA) and monitor their status during that time.
    • Work with the office of the registrar colleagues on issues such as obtaining schedules and transcripts from affiliates and providing contact information for clinical year students.
    • Write and distribute a clinical program newsletter each semester.
    • Maintain the Clinical Year Program information on the RUSVM Web Portal and in E*Value.
    • Maintain and continue to populate the RUSVM Web Portal with externship opportunities for the students.
    • Ensure surveys of clinical year program (NPS, and others) are performed and track response rates and outcomes.


    Clinical Placement process (15%) 

    • Liaise with the clinical program coordinators at the Clinical Affiliates to track the number of seats available and placement requirements each semester.
    • Assist Associate Dean for Clinical affairs in advising students of their best options for clinical year according to student interests and their GPA.
    • Provide support for 7th semester students after clinical placements are made to ensure a smooth transition to the Clinical Affiliates.
    • Assist Associate Dean for Clinical affairs in advising students of the process of transitioning to the clinical affiliates.


    Clinical Affiliates and contracts (15%) 

    •  Monitor the status of Clinical Affiliate contract negotiations and renewals.
    • Assist Associate Dean for Clinical affairs in maintaining affiliate contracts and costs up to date.
    • Assist Associate Dean for Clinical affairs in yearly budget preparation for the Clinical affairs program.


    Pre-Clinical student advising (25%)

    •  Provide information and support for lower semester students of the clinical affiliate options and choices.
    • Become knowledgeable about visas and other documentation necessary for international students to gain admission to the Clinical Affiliates.


    Assist Associate Dean in Travel and scheduling affiliate visits (5%) 

    •  Assist Associate Dean for Clinical affairs in preparing and scheduling affiliate visits.
    • Assist Associate Dean for Clinical affairs in preparing and submitting expense reports.

    Completes other projects and duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in area of program focus is required, Master’s Degree preferred.
    • A minimum of three years’ experience in field of practice providing direct client care and scheduling.
    • Meets all programmatic requirements for the role.
    • Excellent organizational, multitasking and scheduling skills with the ability to coordinate many diverse activities.
    • Excellent communication, listening, problem solving and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures with an understanding of the veterinary medical curriculum
    • Excellent communication, listening, problem solving organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Experience working with multiple projects and meeting deadlines
    • Desire to support veterinary medical students and a commitment to their success
    • Background in science helpful and experience working with STEM students in a professional curriculum
    • Ability to design, populate and maintain web pages
    • Ability to work with personnel on campus and at the Adtalem home office as well as personnel at U.S. and international clinical affiliate institutions
    • Computer skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Banner, Cosmos, E*Value
