    RUSVM operates an on-campus small animal veterinary clinic, Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC), which provides high standards of affordable, primary care veterinary medicine and surgery with excellent customer service to the people of St Kitts and Nevis. RUVC also provides RUSVM students with insight into the daily life of a busy general practice in preparation for their clinical year.


    RUVC is provides the broad range of clinical services one would normally expect of a general practice, including 24-hour emergency coverage throughout the year.

    Position: The position of veterinary technician is a full-time one and will include some weekend and emergency duties.


    The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for clinicians in the Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC). In addition to providing clinical assistance, skill in the areas of anesthesia, patient nursing, dental prophylaxis and radiology are a must. The ideal candidate would participate in the instruction and support of DVM students as part of the daily routine. The RUVC technicians may also be asked to support the Large and Small Animal Student Surgery Labs that occur throughout the semester. The certified technicians in the clinic also participate with the after-hours anesthesia on-call rotating schedule. The technicians are expected to carry out any reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned by the Clinic Director as the need arises.
    Completes other duties as assigned.


    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    • A minimum of 2 years experience working in a clinical setting in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, or equivalent is required.
    • A successful candidate must possess standard technical skills, including but not limited to, animal restraint, catheter placement, blood collection, use of standard diagnostic imaging equipment, use of an I-Stat machine, and diagnostic equipment, such as Doppler, EKG, and multi-function monitors.
    • A desire to teach and interact with veterinary students is also a requirement.
    • The technician must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.

    Preferred Credentials and Education: Certification and/or an associate’s degree is preferred, but not required.

    Salary Range: Highly competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
