    Position Overview: 

    Please note that applications are being accepted for both a permanent assignment and a temporary assignment.  The Senior Financial Analyst will help support both the managerial & financial accounting functions at RUSVM. This role will support the activities of budgeting and forecasting, reporting, financial modelling, general ledger entries, monthly reconciliations, accounts receivables and business analysis. This position is essential in assisting with departmental activities to meet financial deadlines, ensuring adherence to internal and external regulatory requirements, and to guide the development of customized performance metrics.

     

    The Senior Financial Analyst will help ensure that the Accounting department regularly meets key deadlines, and will help drive continued integrity of RUSVM’s financial reporting. A successful candidate will possess a strong academic background and proven experience as a Financial Analyst or Staff Accountant. The candidate will be flexible and customer-focused, with the ability to understand and respond to the dynamic needs of the customers of the Accounting department. The ability to work independently, without close supervision, is required. The post-holder will report to the Finance Manager, with a dotted line to the Accounting Manager.

     

    Responsibilities

    Financial Planning & Analysis

    • Support the preparation, review and consolidation of RUSVM’s operating and capital budgets.
    • Assist the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Manager in the preparation of spring and fall forecasts and with the annual update of the five-year strategic plan.
    • Lead the preparation and distribution of monthly department operating financial reports and colleague benefit statements.
    • Complete department variance and trend analyses and assist Finance Manager in guiding conversations to ensure compliance against performance targets.
    • Prepare monthly campus operating reports to include reviews and analyses of enrollment metrics, operating and capital expenses, Title IV standing, and RUSVM KPI.
    • Maintain the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and integrity of all reporting requests with minimal support.
    • Perform initial review of capital expenditure requests, ensuring budget and capital policy compliance.
    • Collaborate with the Purchasing function on the establishment of budget accounts in SIMMS at beginning of fiscal year and subsequently own modifications, including new account setups and inter/intra-account transfers as required.
    • Liaise with internal audit and drive development of review schedules to support and adhere to internal control / compliance policy procedures.

    Accounting

    • Manage all accounts receivables including the preparation and submission of Value Added Tax by the statutory deadline.
    • Support the Accounting Manager with core activities of the monthly accounting close, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, and investigation of variances.
    • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Collaborate with senior members of the Finance and Accounting team to help develop and implement fiscal reporting methodologies and systems to provide accurate, timely and useful data to support decision-making.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    ·      A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. Master’s or MBA preferred.

    ·       3-5 years business operations, accounting or financial analysis experience in a fast paced environment.

    ·       Must have the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.

    ·       Excellent written and oral communication skills, problem solving and analytical skills required.

    ·       Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment, build consensus and promote the exchange of information among team members.

    ·       Self-motivated and able to work independently and manage multiple projects/initiatives on tight schedules and timelines.

    ·       Knowledge of GAAP accounting standards, SOX compliance, financial modelling, and budget management concepts.

    ·       Strong Microsoft Office skills, with an emphasis on data manipulation, modelling and presentation applications.

    ·       Previous experience with accounting and/or financial planning software application also a plus.
