Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) is an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited university that offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. An integrated curriculum, with innovative use of technologies and simulations as well as small, large, and exotic animals, provides the best possible training for tomorrow’s veterinarians. Students benefit from seven semesters of preclinical and clinical studies at our St Kitts campus, and one year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitalsat various international locations prior to graduation.

Ongoing research focuses on key issues strategically relevant to “One Health” in tropical and developing countries. Four research centers advance productivity and standing of research and research training through our graduate program , and include 1) One Health Center for Zoonoses and Tropical Veterinary Medicine, 2) Integrative Mammalian Research, 3) Conservation Medicine and Ecosystem Health, and 4) Research and Innovation in Veterinary and Medical Education. We are expanding and prioritizing the recruitment of talented faculty and are now seeking a key new member of our team to join us as we develop novel and diverse programs to best prepare our graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a diverse pharmacology/toxicology team consisting of a pharmacologists, a board-certified small animal internist, and physiologist/endocrinologist. S/he will report to the Head of the Biomedical Sciences Department and will have demonstrated expertise in teaching veterinary students in basic aspects of clinical pharmacology, and also have the ability to instruct students in the application of that knowledge to clinical practice, which may involve participation with faculty in the Clinical Sciences Department. Experience in teaching basic and applied aspects of toxicology, physiology, or endocrinology is also desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate in research programs related to the candidate’s areas of interest, resulting in award of intramural/extramural grants, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and participation in the Masters and PhD programs.

 

 

Qualifications

  • A DVM degree or comparable degree is essential and a PhD relevant to pharmacology is highly desirable.
  • Post-doctoral training and Diplomate status in ACVCP, ECVPT or MACVSc is also desirable.
  • The successful candidate will have a track record of funding and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as potential to continue or develop a collaborative or independent research program.
  • The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
