The mission of RUSVM Prep School is to provide an appropriate school for children of faculty and students of RUSVM while they are living on St. Kitts, along with other local and expat students from the wider St. Kitts community that are part of our school family. The school will ensure that each student achieves academic success, develops a lifelong love of learning and becomes a responsible citizen in a global community. This will be achieved through an enriched American curriculum taught by highly trained and qualified teachers committed to motivating students and working in partnership with parents and the administration of RUSVM.

Responsibilities

  • Is up to date regarding curriculum content. Knowledge of the U.S. Common Core Curriculum a plus.
  • Uses a variety of teaching methods, techniques and strategies creating an environment that is positive for student learning and involvement.
  • Experience in planning lessons for various ability levels.
  • Demonstrates competence in using technology.
  • Maintains appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect and safety both in and out of the classroom.
  • Communicates learning goals, high standards, and expectations of quality to students and parents.
  • Demonstrates appreciation for and sensitivity to diversity among individuals and differentiates for students with special needs.
  • Is a team player and works with colleagues to explore connections between grades and subject matter.
  • Experience with Character Education programs.
  • Is constructive and cooperative in interactions with administrator, teachers, parents, and students and is receptive to their contributions.
  • Promotes community service within and beyond the Ross community.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
    • U.S. credentials a plus
    • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Teachers must hold a teacher’s license/certificate with demonstrated skills : planning, teaching, and assessing in a small multi grade class environment;
  • Experience integrating language and technology in the curriculum;
  • Experience in modification and accommodation within the regular classroom;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults;

Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean.  A cutting-edge curriculum, with innovative use of technologies and simulations, provides the best possible training for tomorrow’s veterinarians.  Students benefit from seven semesters of integrated preclinical and clinical studies at our St Kitts campus, and one year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. 

 

Our ongoing research focuses on key issues strategically relevant to One Health in tropical and developing countries and includes zoonotic diseases, food safety and security, environmental health, and conservation medicine. We prioritize recruitment of talented faculty and are now seeking a key new member of our team to join us as we develop new programs to best prepare our graduates to face the global opportunities and challenges of veterinary medicine in the 21st century.
