    The Mobile Patrol Specialist II is responsible for leading the patrol in the areas outside campus, ensuring the safety and protection of the students, faculty and staff. Mobile Patrol Officers provide the Ross Community with the peace of mind knowing their property and surroundings is being secured. The community is placing their trust in the mobile officer to deter unwanted criminal activities. The mobile officer would receive training for the designation of Special Constable according to the Legislation in the Federation of St. Kitts/Nevis.


    • Periodically patrols buildings and grounds of university and the environs where faculty and students reside in order to proactively ensure the safety of each Ross community member.
    • Respond to incidents reported by RUSVM Community members as the first responder, and being the person in charge of the Mobile patrol
    • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
    • Provide moral support and take report when responding to incidents where RUSVM community members are involved
    • Responsible for understanding and enforcing the law
    • Has powers for arresting those involved in criminal activity inside and outside the campus as is required to protect student, faculty, staff and Ross University property
    • Is required to write police reports and give evidence in court in support of arrest.
    • Assist with on-campus duties as required on a daily basis
    • To act in the role of supervisor if both the Supervisor and the Dispatch officers are absent
    • To respond to all emergencies on campus as may be required.
    • To respond in a timely manner to calls for service, standard and emergency on and off campus.
    • Ensure the needs of RUSVM community are met at all times.
    • To conduct courtesy visits to faculty and students.
    • To complete and submit written report of incidents to Supervisor / Dispatch.
    • To assist RUSVM community members when they encounter vehicular problems
    • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
    • Incumbent must successfully complete the training required to attain and maintain Special Constable Status (also known as Island Constable status) in the Federation of St. Kitts/Nevis as a condition of continued employment.
    • Assist with the cleaning of the security vehicles.
    • Enroll in various training programs and exercises.




    Completes other duties as assigned.

    • Education (Type of Degree): 4 CXC Subject Passes preferred (including English)
    • Experience: Previous law enforcement or experience in security is an asset.
    • Specialized Knowledge for Performance of Job.
    • Capable of writing proper reports of incidents and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in the English language.
    • Mobile officers must always serve first as a deterrent then as a witness to criminal activities. Unless action is needed to protect the lives of a community member, the officer should understand that his role is to observe and report any criminal activities.
    • The officer must at all times avoid becoming involved in vehicle chases or similar elevated levels of retaliatory action.
    • A Key component of well-conducted Mobile Patrol is the dependable communication with the dispatcher.
    • The patrol officer should engage in periodic welfare checks to ensure his/her whereabouts are documented and his communication equipment functional.
    • The patrol officer must make a strong effort to ensure his/her patrols are not timed at a regular interval. The officer should use strategies such as frequently reversing courses. Those who wish to harm any community members’ property should never be able to predict when the next security patrol will occur. The officer should also consider observing members property from a distance after completing a patrol. This allows the officer to see if anyone has been waiting for him to leave before creating mischief.
    • Mobile Patrol Officers during normal mobile patrol should never drive rapidly through a patrol zone but should drive slowly in a manner which would enable officers to notice unwanted occurrences such as a vandalized vehicle or suspicious behavior.
